What is FotoFacial?
FotoFacial is a new and unique aesthetic procedure. Using a
series of full face intense pulsed light treatments, erythema (redness
of the skin) and flushing of the face, neck and chest can be successfully
treated. In addition, treatment improves the visible signs of photoaging
and rosacea by reducing fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, telangiectasias
(dilated capilaries) and irregular pigmentation.
How can I determine if this treatment
is right for me?
To know if you are a candidate for FotoFacial treatment,
a trained physician or nurse must evaluate you. The Laser Light Treatment
Center has trained personnel and offers complimentary consultations.
Currently, FotoFacial is the newest, most exciting and effective
treatment for the visible signs of rosacea. Most patients can stop
using antibiotics and medicated creams.
What is the treatment like?
FotoFacial consists of five, thirty to forty five minute, treatments
spaced three weeks apart. Intense pulsed light is passed along the
skin of the face, and in some instances, neck and chest. Patients
describe the sensation as feeling like the snap of a rubber band.
When will I be able to return to my
normal activities?
Patients experience NO DOWN TIME. However, it is best to plan
to put ice on the treated area for at least 20 minutes or longer after
treatment. This reduces redness and swelling. In most instances, normal
activities can be resumed immediately.
What kind of results can be expected?
In a recent study using specific pulse parameters and fluence
in performing FotoFacial, patients showed overall improvement
and 90% showed "much" to "very much" improvement
in signs and symptoms of rosacea. The greatest improvements were seen
in facial flushing (89% improvement); facial erythema (86% improvement);
telangiectasias (84% improvement); irregular pigmentation (84% improvement)
and fine wrinkles (84% improvement). In addition, skin coarseness
was improved 74% and pore size was improved 49%. Patients had 92%
improvement in the inflammatory lesions of rosacea. Treatments were
tolerated with no patient down time in 10 1 of 103 total treatments.
Treatment results were accomplished with minimal temporary adverse
effects.
